IPA》 Style : West Coast IPA w/ Shonan Gold ABV : 7.5% 醸造長Macより。 「A Friend Made」 約3年前、ビール業界の共通の友人を通じて、サナエさんとトヨさんに出会いました。当時、お二人は鎌倉で「A Friend Made」の商品を扱う小さなアパレルショップを経営していました。もっと大きな店舗を開きたいと話していましたが、まだ具体的な計画は定まっていませんでした。 昨年、ついに鎌倉で新しい場所を見つけ、より大きなお店をオープンさせることができました。新しい店舗は、鎌倉駅から徒歩約5分の美しい空間です。個性的なジーンズをお探しの方は、ぜひ立ち寄ってみてください！ オープンして間もなく、私はマシューさんとその妻のエイミーさんに会う機会を得ました。 マシューさんは、ジーンズ、シャツ、スカーフなど、ユニークなアイテムの数々を自らデザインし、縫製しています。マシューさんとビールを飲みながら会話を交わしているうちに、「A Friend Made」のアニバーサリービールを共同で作りたいという話が持ち上がりました。私たち二人ともアメリカ西海岸出身なので、ウェストコーストIPAが最適だと決めました。マシューさんは、ビールに日本の要素も取り入れたいと考えていたため、ウェストコーストIPAの柑橘系の風味を引き立てるために、日本の柑橘類を加えることにしました。 少し考えた末、当店が湘南エリアにあることから、「湘南ゴールド」が最適な選択肢だと判断しました。 最終的に、柑橘系の風味と香りを持ち、苦味がありながらも爽やかで飲みやすいビールを完成させました。湘南ゴールドの存在感は感じられますが、主張しすぎず、ベースとなるビールと見事に調和しています。仕上がりには満足しており、皆様にも楽しんでいただければ幸いです。 instagram : afriendmade.jp A friend made story I met Sanae and Toyo san through a mutual beer industry friend about three years ago. At that time they had a small clothing shop in Kamakura selling A Friend Made items. They were also talking about opening up something bigger but weren’t sure. Last year they were finally able to find a new location in Kamakura and open a bigger shop. The new spot is a beautiful space about a five minute walk from Kamakura Station. If you’re looking for a unique pair of jeans please swing by! Not long after they opened I had the pleasure of meeting Matthew and his wife Amy. Matthew creates and sews the interesting line up of jeans, shirts, scarfs and other items. While sharing some beers and conversations with Matthew we got to talking about doing an anniversary beer A Friend Made. As we are both from the west coast of the US we decided a west coast IPA would be a great choice. Matthew wanted Japan to be represented in the beer as well so we decided that adding a Japanese citrus fruit to go either the citrusy flavors of a WCIPA. After a bit of thought, Shonan Gold was the obvious choice as the shop is in the Shonan area. In the end we created bitter but crisp and drinkable beer with citrus flavors and aromas. The Shonan gold is present but not overpowering and melds beautifully with the base beer. We’re happy with how it turned out and hope you enjoy it as well.
